Alfa Corse team entered 4 cars into the race, driven by Italians; Borzacchini, Campari, Nuvolari & sole German; Rudi Caracciola.
As Caracciola was German, and with Campari in particular not wanting him in the team, his car was painted white, whilst the others remained in red.
Italian Tazio Nuvolari eventually won the race, but after a very close battle with Caracciola, who was just edged out by 2.8sec at the chequered flag.
The car was originally Sold for 35000 Lira (£30) to Count Felice Trossi (president of Scuderia Ferrari) before becoming part of the Alfa Corse racing fleet.
